Abduction: Northeast Governors Call for More Security in Schools

The Northeast Governors Forum has resolved to deploy security personnel to schools across the region to reduce the vulnerability of the students abduction.
The Forum has also called on the Federal Government to seek the support of the neighboring countries and involved machinery in ending the insecurity across the country.

The chairman of the Forum and Governor Borno state Babagana Umara Zulum gave the indication at the opening session of the Forum’s Forth Meeting in Bauchi.

Prof Babagana Umara Zulum who expressed worry on the persistent cases of insurgents attacks and other forms of criminality especially in Borno state challenged the new Service Chiefs to device oppensive strategy that will address the problem.

Babagana Zulum said that the security challenges seems to be endless, noting that the  Governors commitment in the provision of social amenities could not be realize without collective efforts.

In his address, the Chief Host, Governor Bala Muhammad of Bauchi State emphasized the need for federal Government to decentralized the security structure through active involvement of the State Governments in championing the course of insecurity.

Bala Muhammad while expressing confidence that through collective efforts the challenges bedeviling the zone would not be insurmountable called in the Northeast Development Commission to live upto its not expectation.

According to the Governor the current attack insurgents in Maiduguri  and the series of abduction of students should serve as a wake-up call to security agencies and the federal government.
