Bauchi State Govt’t. Partners USAID To Strengthen Healthcare Services.

Bauchi state government in collaboration with USAID’s Office of Health Population and Nutrition has unveiled a revitalized Drug Revolving Fund DRF aimed at ensuring a sustainable funding and provision of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health MNCH as well as malaria medicines towards improving healthcare service delivery.


The move was to save the lives of thousands of women of productive age and children under the age of five and also to contribute in achieving a sustainable drug supply system.

Speaking at the occasion, the State Governor Bala Mulohammed expressed hope that the scheme would make drugs and medical consumerbles available at the public health facilities across the state for the benefit of people.

Bala Mohammed, represented by his Deputy Senator Baba Tela said the state government is committed to fullfiling its mandate of ensuring availability of quality and affordable Health Commodities in all the health facilities.

The Country Director of the USAID Mr. Mike Egboh, said the United States Government through the USAID programme has provided the MNCH seed stock Commodities worth over three hundred and sixty million naira and over eighty million naira worth of malaria medicines as intervention to the state government. 

Mr. Mike Egboh who noted that strengthening health systems remains the priority of USAID explained that the DRF scheme has the potential to sustain commodity availability in the three hundred and twenty three wards and twenty four General Hospitals across the state.
