Bauchi State Govt’t. Launches Over One Billion Naira Empowerment Programme.

Bauchi State Government has launched over one billion naira economic empowerment Programme aimed at providing better opportunities for youth and women to be self-reliant.


The initiative under the Kauran Bauchi Economic Empowerment Programme KEEP is targeting about ten thousand people across the twenty local government areas of the state.

Under the programme, Over Five hundred people including small scale traders and artisans, Mechanics, market women, youth and politicians were selected from each of the local government areas to benefit from various packages of the programme.

Speaking at the formal inauguration of the initiative at Zaki and Gamawa local government areas, Governor Bala Mohammed said he decided to mark the democracy day with human capital development initiative as part of the promises made during electioneering campaign.

Bala Mohammed who explained that the first two years of his administration focused on provision of Infrastructure in critical sectors of health, education, and agriculture among others  noted that provision of various empowerment Programmes will also be given the desired attention in the remaining period.

While calling for judicious disbursement of the materials, the Governor urged the targeted beneficiaries to avail themselves with the opportunity.

The Chairman of Zaki local government area Yahuza Abdullahi and his  counterpart of Gawama Babayo Ahmed Kasuwa  described the initiative as timely noting that it would reduce the economic hardship being experienced by the people.

They advised the beneficiaries to use the materials for the purpose they were meant for toward achieving the desired objectives.
Some of the beneficiaries who commended the Governor for the gesture maintained that the move would improve their lives.
Items distributed include sewing machines, motorcycles, grinding machines, mechanical tools and starter packs for small scale business.
