BOSU secures accreditation of 28 academic programmes

The Borno state University (BOSU), has secured the full accreditation of 28 out of 30 academic programmes being offered by the institution.

Outgoing Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Umar Sandabe stated this at a media briefing in Maiduguri to mark the end of his tenure.

Professor Sandabe explained that the five-year old institution has secured 100 percent accreditation for its programmes.

“The first accreditation exercises for the 30 programmes in the university were conducted in November/December 2022 and the results were released in February 2023.

According to him, the University has also commenced new degree programs in Medicine, Radiography, Nursing, Biochemistry, Medical Laboratory and Health Information Systems
to bolster medical professionals in the state and beyond.

The Vice Chancellor explained that BOSU had also applied to National Universities Commission (NUC) and has commenced engineering and law programmes.

“The existing faculties graduated successful students while faculty of agriculture which is a 5-year programme is expected to graduate its students in next academic year,” Sandabe said.

He commended the Federal Government and some of its agencies particularly Tetfund, North East Development Commission, and Federal Inland Revenue for their support in area of executing landmark projects in the young university.

Professor Sandabe who lauded the management team of the university for the support accorded him as the pioneer vice chancellor, urged his successor to always consult widely and ensure frugal management of resources.
