Adamawa state gov’t Inaugurates USAID state2state transformation committee

Adamawa state Government has expressed commitment to partner international organizations for the development of the state.

The secretary to the state government, Auwal Tukur stated this while Inaugurating a 21 member committee of the state to state transformation committee of Adamawa state held in his office at the state secretariat.

The secretary to the state government, Auwal Tukur Said the committee will be saddled with the responsibility of successful implementation of USAID state2state reform activities and work plans in the state.

” we live in a global village where every aspect of human society is expected to accessed an check wether it is functioning according to criteria that are laid out on good governance, transparency and fiscal discipline”.

Auwal Tukur Said the country’s population is blooming and that call s for the need of resources beyond government, hence the supports from organizations like the USAID state2state, stressing that for them to bring in their resources they must be sure that this resources are properly implemented on agreed plans and when implemented there is proper discipline and responsibility to that.

The Secretary to the State Government therefore urged the members of the committee to continue with the sense of duty in their day to day activities, adding that the state governor surely have confidence in them.

He also called on the people of the state to support the committee as well as the state government as this effort is for the development of the state.

Responding, the co-chairperson of the committee who is also the commissioner of finance, Justina Wandamiya said the state2state activities is a five year initiative designed to assist some selected states in the country to strengthen accountability, transparency and effectiveness in increasing service delivery and access basic education, primary health care and water sanitation.

” as part of this program there are organs of government that are suppose to deliver this programs in the state in line with the activities of the state2state”.

She said the committee will provide guidance in the design, implementation and sustainability of reforms in line with the state2state’s objectives especially in the areas of financial management and citizens engagements.

While describing the responsibility ahead of the committee as tasking, Mrs Justina appreciated the state government for Inaugurating the committee which she described as overdue, thereby assured of the committee’s readiness to deliver.

The state transformation committee comprised of representatives of government from relevant ministries, departments and agencies, representatives of civil society organizations and private sector associations.
