Bauchi OGP Steering Committee Tasked on Transparency, Accountability, Inclusiveness

Members of the Bauchi State Steering Committee on Open Government Partnership (OGP) have been charged to ensure transparency, accountability, and social inclusion to achieve good governance.

The Co-Chair, Non State-Actor and Executive Director, Fahimta Women Development Initiative, Hajiya Maryam Garba gave the charge in an interview with Radio Nigeria on the sideline of a meeting by members of the committee in Bauchi.

Hajiya Maryam Garba said adherence to these principles was the only way towards ensuring the state was in tandem with the National template and to achieve Global best practice.

The Co-Chair who said the committee was mandated to focus on some thematic areas, to include, accountability, physical transparency, access to information, inclusiveness among others.

She said the members of the OGP State Steering Committee were inaugurated in 2022 and had a workshop on development of work plan in January, 2023, a document that was forwarded to the state Governor Bala Mohammed for Executive approval.

Hajiya Maryam explained that the approval by the Governor gave birth to the meeting that brainstormed and designed a quarterly work plan for the to implement.

The OGP Steering Committee meeting was organized by the Bauchi Field office of the USAID funded State Accountability Transparency and Effectiveness State2State Activity.
