Borno Pilgrims offer Special Prayers for end to insecurity in Macca

In a move to seek divine intervention to the protracted insurgency, Borno State pilgrims for the 2024 Hajj, have offered special prayers at Haram (Grand Mosque) in Macca, Saudi Arabia.

The Chief Imam of Borno, Imam Laisu Ibrahim Ahmed, led the pilgrims in a prayer session at the Holy mosque, seeking God’s intervention for an end to the security challenges plaguing the state.

Imam Laisu said we have an obligation as a people to pray for our state and country in this very difficult time now that we in the Holy land to overcome our current situation. 

“Our people are going through challenging times due to the insecurity. So we felt the need to come together at the Grand mosque and pray fervently to Allah to help us overcome this situation ” Imam Laisu said.

Borno state Amirul Hajj Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan, Acting Executive Secretary State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Mohammed Dawule and other members of the Committee during a prayer session in Macca.

The pilgrims also performed the circumambulation on the sacred area in the Holy mosque, which is another religious activity that attracts Allah bounties and rewards. 

In an interview, leader of the Borno State 2024 Hajj Committee, Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan said the Amirul Hajj committee decided to organise the prayer session in order to seek divine intervention to the multitude of challenges bedeviling Borno and Nigeria as a country. 

According to him, similar prayers were held in Arafah and other sacred places during the Hajj exercise. 

” We took this decision in our last committee meeting following the army of challenges we have in our country and our dear state. We are opportune to be in the Holy mosque in Macca, so we decided to organise the prayer session with a view to praying to God to alleviate our sufferings by wiping out all the challenges in Nigeria as well Borno state” Kaka Shehu remarked. 

He called on the pilgrims to sustain the prayers whenever they visit the Holy mosque up till their departure. 

Prayers were held for a quick end to the security challenges, bumber harvest and for leaders to have the wisdom and sound health to administer the state and the country. 

Correspondent Dauda Iliya reports that the state which has been the epicentre of Boko Haram insurgency had in the last few days witnessed suicide attacks which claimed more than 30 lives.
