Bauchi State hosts the 2024 Annual Federal Education Sector Games.

The Federal Government has urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs at the national anc sub national levels to use Sports as a source of economic empowerment towards improving the livelihood of Young and Senior Citizens for nation building.
The State Minister of Education Dr Yusuf Sununu made the call at the opening of the fourth edition of the annual Federal Education Sector Games, FEDUGAM 2024 in Bauchi.
Dr Yusuf Sununu represented by the Director ICT in the ministry Alhaji Isa Abubakar said sports has become a viable economic empowerment tool as well as a bridge for peace building and conflict resolution, hence the need to embrace it for the benefit of both young and older people.
“The Federal Education Sector Games is a customized sporting programme aimed at three cardinal objectives of Unity, friendship and synergy among the stakeholders”.
“It builds bridge across various dividers, while it has evolved to building peace and resolving conflicts. Sports has also become a source of economic empowerment to both young and old depending on the side of the table”, Dr Sununu notes.
While thanking the government of Bauchi State for hosting the event and providing financial support, the Minister encouraged wider participation among agencies so as to attract corporate sponsors for the games in future.
“The Organizers should endeavour to make the Annual Sports fiesta bigger and better by way of introducing other sporting programmes ahead of the Annual Games and also create event or programme that would accommodate the Chief Executives Agencies and other top hierarchy in the main Ministry”, He advises.
Declaring the event open, the State Governor Bala Mohammed represented by his Chief of Staff Dr Aminu Gamawa said his administration’s quest to uplift education and sporting activities is evident with the recent hosting of the first State Sports Festival and Inter-Secondary Schools Football Competition.
Bala Mohammed who acknowledged the role of sports in bringing about unity, friendship and synergy, called on the participants to use the opportunity to build network and explore the tourism sites in the state.
“Such games is aimes at improving productivity level of staff for the general growth of the service and the country generally. In recognition of the vital role sport plays in bringing unity in our country, coupled with the cordial relationship between the state, Federal Ministry of Education and other agencies, I approved not only the request of tye minister to host the annual event but also provided financial support to the organisers s9 as to ensure hitch free event”, Bala Mohammed states.
Earlier, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Education Dr Jamila Dahiru appreciated all stakeholders for their effort towards hosting of the event and assured of continued support to the Federal Education Sector Games for unity and development of the nation.
In a remark, the Chairman Federal Education Sector Games, FEDUGAM Steering Committee and Director Human Resources Federal Ministry of Education Omotayo Adeyemi expressed gratitude to the state government, JAMB, NECO, NUC and UBEC for their financial support in the face of present economic realities.
The Annual event which saw twenty three agencies under the Federal Ministry of Education in attendance, conferred on Bauchi State Governor, the Award of Federal Education Sector Games FEDUGAM Special Goodwill Ambassador.
