KANET Calls for Establishment of Youth Development Trust Fund

The Kano Network of NGOs (KANET) has called on Kano State Government to as a matter of urgency establish a Youth Development Trust Fund with a view to address numerous challenges affecting the youths .
The Chairman Steering Committee Dr Musa Abdullahi Sufi Disclosed this during a media briefing organized by the Network ,in commemoration of 2024 International Youths Day,held in Kano.
Dr Sufi noted tha the trust fund if provided aims to support initiatives focused on youth development, addressing challenges such as high unemployment, limited access to education and skills training, health issues, and marginalization of vulnerable groups.
He maitained that some of the challenges affecting the development of the youths includes High unemployment and lack of skills to explore existing opportunities,Limited access to quality education and vocational training,Health challenges, including mental health issues, limited access to sexual and reproductive health services, and substance abuse and Marginalization of vulnerable groups, including young women, people with disabilities, and those in rural areas
Dr Musa Abdullahi Sufi explained that if established,the Youths development trust fund if adopt will play a vital role in enhancing Entrepreneurship and Employment, Education and Skills Development ,Health and Well-Being, Inclusion and Support for Vulnerable Youth
,Leadership and Governance , Innovation, Digital Economy and Creativity
“KANET urges the Kano State Government, private sector, civil society organizations, and international partners to support the establishment of the Youth Development Trust Fund. The organization calls for a clear governance framework that ensures transparency, accountability, and youth participation.”
The Steering Committee Chairman Dr Abdullahi Sufi added that investing in youth development is crucial for the future of Kano State.
” The proposed Youth Development Trust Fund offers a solution to address the challenges facing youth in the state. Let us work together to make this vision a reality.”
