Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) has convened its first Annual Stakeholders’ Town Hall meeting to strengthen relationships between the hospital and its clients or their relatives, aiming to enhance healthcare service delivery.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Medical Director of ATBUTH, Dr Jibril Yusuf Bara, stated that the meeting also aimed to address public concerns and promote a clear understanding of the hospital’s services.
Dr Jibril Bara who noted that the hospital’s e-health system was yielding positive results by preventing financial leakages, assured attendees that ATBUTH had implemented measures to identify and remove those he described as saboteurs causing disruptions in the institution’s server room.
Regarding other milestones, the CMD revealed that the hospital was partnering with a group of experts from Egypt to introduce cochlear implantation for the benefit of individuals with hearing impairments.

Dr Bara noted that despite the achievements recorded by the hospital, it was also facing challenges of inadequate funding, human resource and high tariffs from electricity distribution company among others.
According to him, the initiative would enable people with hearing difficulties to regain clear hearing.
The Head of Standard Quality Assurance and Enforcement, National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Bauchi Office, Dr Hassan Shu’aibu Musa, said ATBUTH’s NHIS unit was offering healthcare services to about 25,000 clients, making it the highest in Bauchi State.
In a remark, Chairman of the Hospital’s League of Friends, Alhaji Nuru Adamu Jumba, said that on a daily basis, he receives complaints from patients on one issue or another and demanded extra effort from the medical officers to deliver the necessary service to those seeking it.
Speaking at the event, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Guild of Medical Directors, Bauchi State Chapter, Dr Hassan Mohammed Garba, described the meeting as timely, highlighting its potential to positively impact clients and improve the hospital’s service delivery.
Chairman of the occasion and emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, represented by the Wakilin Maganin Bauchi Dr Sa’idu Aliyu Gital said the Stakeholders’Town Hall meeting was apt in view of the clients’ perception about the hospital.
In an interview, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Istifanus Ibrahim, expressed satisfaction with the hospital’s services, particularly its response to emergency cases and commended ATBUTH for organising the meeting.
