ActionAid Nigeria and Partners trains Women Leaders in Bogoro local government area of Bauchi State on Leadership skills.

Participants at a one day training on leadership have resolved to partner organisations and individuals towards empowering women in Leadership and decision making skills for the socioeconomic development of the society.

The one day training on leadership is organised by Actionaid in partnership with Fahimta Women and Youth Initiative and Women Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria WOWICAN Bauchi State chapter in Bogoro local government area of Bauchi State.

The participants also expressed hope that the training would be replicated in other areas to ensure women’s active participation in all developmental activities in the society.

One of them and Women leader Bogoro C ward Alheri Godface said the training has exposed them to the challenges facing women and the need to stand up and change the status quo.

Alheri Godface who expressed displeasure over the persistent cultural barriers on women, promised to positively change the mindset of people regarding the role of women in leadership and decision making process.

Also Speaking, Marta David from Mwari Community noted that women have over the years been relegated to mear tools for winning election, hence the need for them to come out and vie for leadership positions to secure a place in decision making at all levels.

One of the facilitators and Assistant Financial Officer Women Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria WOWICAN Salami Kolawole said the training is aimed at equipping women with necessary leadership skills and their rights to education, religion, politics and other aspects of human endeavour.

Earlier, the Team Leader and Deputy Chairperson WOWICAN Bauchi State chapter Madam Gladys Mbami said plans are underway to expand the project to other communities to achieve the desired result.

Gladys Mbami further disclosed that the project was conceived by Actionaid in view of the active participation of women in voting during elections at the two Communities.

The one day training training drew over forty women leaders from Mwari and Gwaranga communities in Bogoro local government on leadership, Political participation and decision making.
