Fifteen Principals of the Federal Government Colleges in the North Eastern part of the country have began its annual zonal meeting in Potiskum, Yobe State.
The meeting which held at the Federal Government College Buni Yadi is aimed at discussing and deliberating on the issues concerning the critical situation of the Schools.
In his welcome address, the Principal Federal Government College Buni Yadi Dr. Bibinu Samuel Ahmed, said the annual meeting will also discuss on the way forward for all unity colleges.
Dr Bibinu described the Zonal meeting as the first of its kind since the inception of Boko Haram Insurgency in the North East.
He commended the courage and doggedness of all the principals as they stand to educate children, even in the face of insecurity.
While answering questions from journalist, the Chairperson Federal Government Unity Colleges, who is also the Principal and Director Federal Science Technical College Jalingo Dr. (Mrs) Mercy Adaramola said the meeting which is aimed at deliberating on the way forward for both Teachers, Parents and Students will prefer solutions to all problems confronting the schools.
In her own remark, the principal Federal Government College Wukari Mrs Didenu Naje Yayirus mentioned some of the challenges facing the colleges which include Insecurity, Non-payment of school fees, Low enrollment of girl child in schools and inadequate resources
She called on the government to assist parents in enrolling their Children, particularly Girls.
