Army War College participants tour formations under Operation Hadin Kai.
The Commandant Nigerian Army War College Major General Solomon Udounwa says the operational tour embarked upon by participants of the College is to develop plans that will enhance military operations across the country.
General Udounwa stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding Seven Division Nigerian Army Brigedir General Abdulwahab Eyitato at Maimalari cantonment Maiduguri.
Represented by Director war and strategy of the College, Brigedir General Umar Alkali, the Commandant said the operational theater visit is part of campaign planning and art module designed to acquaint participants with different strategies deployed in theaters of war.
According to him, the over sixty participants of Course 5 have been divided into two groups to visit two operational areas Operation Hadin Kai in Maiduguri and Operation Awatse in Lagos.
The Commandant explained that since coming to the Theatre, the participants have been receiving briefs from various commanders and heads of security establishments in the state.
“It affords participants who are been trained as planning officers and future operational level commanders the opportunity of going to visit existing missions to see their plans, hear their brief, see the nuances and challenges they face in this missions and come back and do operational and technical estimates in order to review concept of operations, General Udounwa remarked”.
The General Officer Commanding Seven Division Nigerian Army Brigedier General Abdulwahab Eyitato said the visit will help the officers to build their intellectual capacity to handle the task ahead.
General Eyitato who is also Commander Sector One Operation Hadin Kai observed that one of the major challenges troops encounter in the counter insurgency operations is the use of improvised explosive devices IEDs by the insurgents.
According to him troops on operations most times have to painstakingly manoeuvre the hidden IEDs thereby delaying logistics resupply in the battlefront and other associated challenges.
High point of the visit is the counter IED demonstration by troops of Operation Hadin Kai at the 17 Field Engineering Regiment Maimalari cantonment.
