ASUU STRIKE: The Leadership blames government team on slow pace of the resolution process.

The leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU has warned federal government delegation negotiating with them against slippery offers, antics and deceits.
The ASUU Bauchi Zone Coordinator, Professor Lawan Garba Abubakar who sounded the warning during press conference in Bauchi called on the officials to salvage the plight of the students and their parents by implementing and honouring the agreements the union entered with government.
Professor Lawan Garba Abubakar a lecturer with the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi enjoined parents, students, civil society organizations and the public to understand the situation and support ASUU in the struggle for the rescue of the public university system.
While stressing that the public has moral obligation and responsibility to ensure that public university education is not rubbished Professor Lawan Garba Abubakar insisted that government must live up to its responsibility to honour the agreements it signed with ASUU to guarantee industrial harmony.
He called on the ASUU members across the zone to continue to persevere and remain resolute to enable the union achieve it aim considering that the strike has been the last option after series of written and physical agreement with the government without being heard.
The remaining pending issues ASUU is the pressing for are, provision of revitalization funds for universities and arrears of Earned Academic Allowance as well as proliferation of state universities, their under funding and unnecessary interference by the state governors.
Others are reconstitutions of both visitation panels to federal universities and government negotiations team .
The rest according to Professor Lawan Garba Abubakar are additional issues of Integrated Payroll and Personal Information System IPPIS and stoppage of salaries of ASUU members brought in by the government.
