ATAP Bauchi to transform its Security Architecture.

Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic ATAP Bauchi says it is working towards transforming its security architecture from analogue to digital to surmount the challenges facing the institution.

The Acting Rector of the institution Dr Hashim Sabo gave the indication during the opening of a three day In-house training on Campus Security Management and Strategy for Security Personnel of the polytechnic in Bauchi.

Dr Hashim Sabo said the polytechnic is faced with multiple challenges of insecurity resulting from theft on almost a daily basis, hence the resolve to train the personnel on modern security techniques to nip the situation in the bud.

He noted that the security unit will be provided with modern technological gadgets towards securing the campus and environs as well as new uniforms for better service delivery.

On the challenges facing the institution to include lack of accreditation and fellowship for academic staff, the Acting Rector said his vision is to see the polytechnic ranked among the best ten in the country.

Earlier, the Dean School of General Studies Dr Muhammad Auwal Sulaiman who acknowledged the important role of security personnel in educating the campus community about safety and security, noted that the training will help them understand emerging challenges and to develop strategies of surmounting them.

Speaking on the event, the Training Officer Malam Musa Yakubu who said participants were rather watchmen than security personnel, noted that the Train would focus on rudiments of security to include crowd and events management owing to the fact that security management has transformed into ICT-based.

In a vote of thanks, the Acting Registrar of the polytechnic Malam Lawal Sambo appreciated the management for approving the training, noting that the institution with over two hundred security personnel, no such training was conducted in the past two decades.
