ATBU Bauchi: Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria to reward best graduating Banking and finance student with ten thousand dollars.

Stakeholders in the Banking sector and Students studying in the field have been advised to register with the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria CIBN towards advancing the sector and boost the nation’s economy.

The President and Chairman Council of the Institute Dr Bayo Olugbemi gave the advice at the Ground-breaking ceremony of CIBN Bankers Hall under the Faculty of Management Sciences of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University ATBU Bauchi.

Dr Bayo Olugbemi said students studying Business Management, Banking and finance, economics, accounting, marketing, business education and economics education among others can automatically register with the institute and write the examination to become chartered bankers.

” I therfore request that you look kindly into the following areas i furtherance to the linkage programme; facilitate the registration of Faculty members of the Department of Banking and Finance of the University to register as members of the Institute, provide information to the Institute as may be required from time to time on the progress of the Linkage programme, he said”.

He charged the University to strengthen the relationship between the institute and other stakeholders in the sector towards deepening banking and finance programmes and producing quality graduates.

” The edifice which will be known and called “THE CIBN BANKERS HALL” will serve as the melting pot for the training and development of future ready bankers.

This project is our modest contribution to the development of banking and finance education and support the economy through capacity building, he disclosed.”

The Vice Chancellor ATBU Bauchi Professor Muhammadu Ahmad Abdulazeez who expressed gratitude to the institute for putting ten thousand dollars as reward to best graduating student in Banking and Finance, called for stronger synergy in the area of research towards finding lasting solutions to numerous problems in the field.

“We have to find a better way of synergy so that its not only training, lets try to come down to the supervision of Masters and PhD so that at the end of the day the whole country will have better solutions to her problems. Lets try to look at our demands, lets try to look at what we need so that we can now have a solution which is a Nigerian solution to our problems, he noted”.

Earlier, the Dean Faculty of Management Sciences ATBU Bauchi Professor Sama’ila Idi Ningi said the relationship started in 2013 leading to the signing of MOU and a number of students benefitted from the linkage programme.

In seperate goodwill messages, the Secretary to Bauchi State Government Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, Emir of Bauchi Dr Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu represented by Danejin Bauchi Alhaji Lawal Babama’aji, Bauchi Zonal Controller NDIC Ajiya Zarma who appreciated the institute for siting the project in Bauchi, called on philanthropists to emulate such gesture.

In a vote of thanks, the Registrar and Chief Executive of the institute Mr Oluseye Awojobi, appreciated management of the university and other stakeholders for their support towards the success of the project.

The 160 capacity Bankers hall which is convenient for all academic activities and events, is to be completed within four months.
