ATHLETICS ASSOCIATION ADVOCATES FOR SUPPORT IN PROMOTING SPORTING ACTIVITIES.

As the median edition of the Gombe State inter-primary school athletics championship kickstart in good track, Gombe State Government and Corporate bodies have been called to be part of the initiative as it will go a long way in transforming the sporting activities in the State.

The Chairman of, the Gombe State Athletics Association, Dr Ahmad Shuaibu Gara made the call during the opening ceremony of the Championship held at the Pantami Township Stadium in Gombe.

Dr. Shuaibu Gara who emphasizes the need to join hands together, said the call has become imperative as their support would play a crucial role in elevating not only Athletics but sports as a whole.

While Reiterating their determination to enhance the sporting culture, the state Athletics Chairman, urged these entities including all the sports associations within the state to join hands with the association to create a positive change in the sporting landscape.

In their separate speeches, the Board Secretary of the State basic education board (SUBEB), Fatima Baba Umar, and the Education Secretary, of Gombe Local Education Authority (LEA), Malam Abubakar Baba Abdullahi, commended Gombe State Athletics Association for its exemplary efforts in putting together a well-organized Championship, emphasizing that the state government is committed to partnering with relevant stakeholders and associations to revamp sports across the school in the state.

The championship showcased the talent and enthusiasm of primary school pupils who competed in various sporting activities which include different meter races for both boys and girls, as well as engaging events like the bottle race, sack race, egg race, and long jump, among others.

About 1000 Athletes from over 30 Primary Schools under Gombe local education authority are expected to participate in the competition.
