Bauchi State House of Assembly has called on government as a matter of urgency to come to the aid of victims of flood disaster which destroyed houses at Cheledi community in Kirfi Local Government Area of the State.
This squealed to a motion moved under matters of public importance by member representing Kirfi Constituency Barrister Habibu Umar during plenary presided over by the Deputy Speaker Jamilu Umaru Dahiru.
Barrister Umar said the flood triggered by torrential rain on Wednesday resulted in the overflow of water from the surrounding mountains to submerge the community, destroy houses and displace people in the area.
The lawmaker, urged the relevant authorities and committee in the house to pay a sympathy visit to the community affected, saying no life was lost in the disaster calling on the victims to take the incident as an act of God.
Meanwhile, the house has appealed to the executive arm to rehabilitate and reconstruct a forty kilometres road that links Burgyel to Sati Musa and Marraban Dajin to Liman Katagum in Tafawa Balewa local government.
Presenting the motion, Member representing Lere Bula Constituency Abdul-Rashid Adamu Mu’azu said communities within the axis are facing challenges to access healthcare services at the near by hospitals due to the deplorable conditions of the roads.
He used the opportunity and called on the Ministry for Works and Transportation to ensure inclusion of the roads construction in its twenty twenty one budget roads projects estimates.
