Basic Education: Bauchi State Government appoints new Education Secretaries.

Bauchi State Government has approved the release of three hundred thousand naira as monthly running cost to each of the twenty Local Education Authorities in the state.

The Permanent Secretary State Universal Basic Education Board Alhaji Usman Kawu stated this at the inauguration and presentation of appointment letters to the twenty Education Secretaries in Bauchi.

Alhaji Usman Kawu said the role of Education Secretaries is supervisory, hence the need for them to ensure strict adherence to their primary role for the development of basic education in the state.

Inaugurating the appointees, the Executive Chairman of SUBEB Alhaji Abubakar Surunbai Sheikh Dahiru who said the present administration has zero tolerance to corruption, warned that the board will not hesitate to punish any erring official.

Abubakar Surunbai disclosed that the appointment is for a period of four years, hence the need for the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them.

Earlier, the Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Education Alhaji Babayo Akuyam underscored the need for the appointees to give quarterly report of their activities, and charged them to ensure all education managers and teachers deliver on their mandates.

Speaking on behalf of the appointees, the Dean of Education Secretaries and ES Bauchi local government Alhaji Haruna Aliyu promised to ensure the upliftment of basic education and called for the recruitment of more teachers, adequate funding as well as provision of teaching and learning materials in schools.
