Bauchi Assembly restates commitment to Women and Girls Protection, empowerment.

Bauchi State House of Assembly has restated commitment towards the protection and empowerment of women in the state.
The Speaker of the House Abubakar Sulaiman made the commitment while receiving the officials of HeforShe and International Alert on a courtesy visit in his office.
Abubakar Sulaiman said the issue of women’s rights and empowerment is everyone’s responsibility, hence the need for all and sundry to contribute for the development of the society.
He said each and every member of the assembly has in one way or the other supported women through various programs to achieve their potential.
The Speaker who thanked the organization for conferring the title of HeforShe Ambassador on him, promised to support any group or individual with the aim of empowering women.
Earlier, the State Coordinator HeforShe Mr Jinjiri Garba said they were at the assembly to thank the Speaker for his effort towards women rights and the passage of the VAPP law among other things.
Jinjiri Garba said the organization was established by International Alert for men and boys to support and encourage women and girls to have fair representation in all aspects of decision making.
The entourage had in attendance the State Manager International Alert Jennifer Dashe, State Secretary HeforShe Magistrate Abdulmumini Adamu, Ward Head of Dan Iya Alhaji Sulaiman Bashir and Executive Director ASHH Foundation Comfort Attah among others.
