Bauchi State Government has been urged to recruit more personnel in the non formal education sub sector to overcome the challenge of manpower deficit.
Some education stakeholders from Bauchi South Senatorial district made the call at a meeting with the management of State Agency for Mass Education BASAME held in Bauchi.
One of them and Director Education and Social Development Bauchi local government Hajiya Maimunah Inuwa said a large number of education officials are retiring from service by the month leaving huge gap without anyone to manage, hence the need for government to recruit more personnel especially at the rural level.
Hajiya Maimunah Inuwa also stressed the need for the agency to open literacy learning and women centres based on the number of learners enrolled in an area to save energy and resources.
Also Speaking, the Director Education and Social Development Tafawa Balewa local government Godiya Ibrahim Tumi calle for the reduction in learning centres, adoption of electronic method in enrolment as well as training and retraining of staff in fresher courses to ensure success.
On her part, the Chief Organiser Dass local government Malama Suwaiba Lawal who commended the state government for providing the needed instructional materials , expressed hope that all the challenges highlighted during the meeting would be addressed.
Other stakeholders at the meeting also called for sustained monitoring of centres especially in hard to reach areas for effective teaching and learning.
