Bauchi State Government has procured over four million insecticide treated mosquitoes nets worth about eight billion naira for onward distribution to people across the twenty local government areas of the state.
The Executive chairman State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDs Tuberculosis Leprosy and Malaria BACATMA Dr. Sani Muhammad Danbam disclosed this during the inauguration of 2022 insecticide treated nets campaign coordination Network committee in Bauchi.
Dr. Sani Danbam who said the rate of malaria cases in the country is very alarming noted that the present administration in the state has shown a lot of commitment towards the fight against the disease.
He said the inauguration of the committee has signaled the commencement of the distribution exercise expected to commence within the next three to four months.
The Executive chairman who called for more collaborative effort in the fight against Malaria expressed confident that the committee would deliver on its mandate.
Speaking at the inauguration the State Commissioner of Health Dr. Samaila Kaila Dahuwa commended governor Bala Muhammad for giving much attention to the health sector in the state.
Dr. Samaila Dahuwa who was represented by the Permanent Secretary ministry of health Ali Babayo said the committee was saddled with the responsibilities of coordination of work streams, facilitating timely delivery and distribution of the nets at the local government and ward levels, among others.
Also speaking the Representative of Global Health supply Chain Procurement and Management Dinda James assured of support in ensuring that the items reached the targeted beneficiaries.
The Committee has the State Commissioner of Health as chairman, representative of Religious and Traditional Leaders Security Agencies and Development Partners, among others.
