The Bauchi State Government has approved the payment of WAEC and NECO registration fees to over twenty thousand SS3 students with index numbers across all public secondary schools in the state.
Similarly, as part of motivation, the government is to pay JAMB registration fees for all the students that pass the Mock examination with either A, B or C grades.
The State Commissioner of Education, Dr Jamila Dahiru stated this in an interview with Radio Nigeria shortly after inspecting the Mock examination for SS3 students at Government Girls College GGC Bauchi.
Dr Jamila Dahiru said the mock exercise being conducted annually in preparation for the national examinations, would enable government to have a reliable data of students for the payment of the WAEC , NECO and JAMB examination fees.
“His Excellency in his generosity, approved that we should pay for WAEC and NECO to all SS3 students for free, but for JAMB- we want to entice the students so that they can put in more effort . It is going to be only paid for those that scaled through and that is for those that would have A, B or C grades”, she explains.
According to her, the mock examination will also expose the students to the style and methods of writing external examinations.
She said the payment of JAMB registration fees was to appreciate those that put more effort in their studies as well as to encourage and assure the upcoming ones that there is reward for hard work.
Dr Jamila further disclosed that unlike previous years where only students that pass the mock are registered for the national examination, the government has graciously approved free registration of five external examinations to include NECO, WAEC, JAMB, NBAIS and NABTEB for all final year student in public secondary schools.
The Commissioner use the medium to appreciate Governor Bala Muhammed for his concern towards the education of children especially the less privileged and rural dwellers.
