Bauchi Govt’t to Partner Fed. Fire Service in Disaster Management.

Bauchi state government is to collaborate with the Federal Fire Service to improve the capacity of the state fire fighters.
To this end, personnel of the state fire service are to be attending training at Federal Fire Service College from the first quarter of next year for effective service delivery.
The state Governor Bala Muhammad gave the indication while granting audience to the Comptroller General of the Federal Fire Service Dr. Liman Ibrahim in government house Bauchi.
Bala Muhammad who described the humanitarian services being rendered by fighters as commendable expressed commitment to provid the state directorate of the service with needed supports to operate inline with global based practice in disaster management.
He noted that approval has been made for the establishment additional fire service unit in Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education Kangere to facilitate quick response to fire disaster in all the nook and crannies of the state capital.
On the issue of difficulty being faced in attending to fire outbreak and some emergencies in the state metropolis due to problem of access roads, the Governor said already his administration has embarked on opening up of the city centre with more roads to ease the operation of fire service.
The Comptroller General of the Federal Fire Service Dr. Liman Ibrahim who decried the obsolete nature of the fire fighting facilitaties in the state assured the provision of state of the art equipment from the federal government for enhanced operation.
According to him the state would also be provided with some fire resisting uniforms and effective chemical for optimal performance in that direction.
The Comptroller General, therefore commended the Governor for his determination to reposition the fire service operation in the state.
