BAUCHI: NUJ INAUGURATES CONSTITUTIONAL REVIEW COMMITTEE.

In an effort to address challenges facing journalism profession, the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Bauchi State Council has inaugurated a Constitutional Review Committee for effective service delivery.

Inaugurating the Committee in Bauchi, the Council’s Chairman Comrade Umar Saidu said the committee was constituted to re view the 2011 constitution with a view to identify areas and sections that need amendment.

Comrade Umar Saidu said the committee is saddled with the responsibility of compiling suggestions from members, chapels and other stakeholders in the sector for onward submission to the National Review Committee for proper legislation.

He further appealed to the executive members of various chapels to cooperate with the committee through timely submission of reports in order to tackle issues hindering the success of the Union.

While calling on the selected members to do justice in carrying out their assigned responsibilities, Comrade Umar Saidu pointed out that the State Council is the first to inaugurate such committee as directed by the National Body.

Responding, Chairman of the Committee Muhammad Sani Muhammad who described journalism profession as dynamic assured of their resolve to live up to expectation.

The Committee which has ten days to submit its report for proper implementation has Muhammad Sani Muhammad as Chairman, Haruna Baballe Secretary as well as Barrister Amina Yahya, Umar Muhammad amongst others as members.
