The Commissioner of police Bauchi State Command Umar Sanda has solicited the support and cooperation of journalists in an effort to improve community policing the state.
CP Umar Sanda gave the indication during a familiarization visit to the Bauchi state Secretariat of the NUJ.
CP Umar Sanda assured that, the state police command is committed in ensuring protection of lives and property in the state.
He said that, the police would continue to support journalists to enable them carry out their Constitutional responsibilities effectively.
The Commissioner enjoined journalists to redouble efforts in enlightening the public on the rampant cases of murder and rape in the state.
He used the medium and appealed to the public to avoid taking law into their hands.
Responding the Bauchi state Chairman NUJ Comrade Umar Saidu appeal to the Nigeria police to assist the NUJ in arresting quacks journalists and illegal use of Press stickers on vehicles for necessary actions.
The NUJ Chairman call on stakeholders in the country not to support the creation of state police as being champion in some quarters.
Comrade Umar Saidu commended the Commissioner of police for visiting the press center to interact with the Nigeria journalists and urged others to emulate.
