Bauchi State Police Command Regret Brutality against Journalists.

The Commissioner of police Bauchi state Command Sylvester Abiodun has assured to punish police officers involved in brutalizing journalists on Thursday in Bauchi
The commissioner give the assurance after a meeting with The NUJ State Working Committee held at the State Secretariat Bauchi
CP Sylvester Abiodun said the state Command is fashing out ways on how to let junior police officers to be civil whenever journalists is performing his Constitutional duty
He described the incident as regrettable and assured it would not be repeated again
I have already initiated internal mechanism to fish out person who did that and whoever is capable would be dealt with we have a displinery procedure on how to handle that kind of situation
The commissioner of police explain that journalists are critical stakeholders to the police nothing that without them police can not show case their achievements
CP Sylvester Abiodun emphasis that police would pay all the medical bills and procure the working materials of the journalist damage by the police officers
The Commissioner of solicited the support of the journalists to continue to work together for the progress of the society
Speaking,The National Secretary NUJ Comrade shuaibu leman reiterate that safety and security of the journalists is paramount to the Union and urged police and other security agencies to give particular attention to the working journalists
Comrade shuaibu leman commended the Commissioner of police for coming to NUJ Secretariat with a view to finding a lasting solution to the problems
The National Secretary enjoined NUJ Bauchi State Council to continue engaging the police as the are stakeholders in project call Nigeria
In a remark the NUJ State Secretary comrade Isa Garba Gadau emphases that the Union would continue to stand by its members and urged them to always remain professionals while carrying out their duty
Isa Gadau said the Union has suspended it’s planned peaceful protest against police brutality following commissioner of police intervention
It could be recalled that on Thursday 29 July 2021 police brutalizes AIT Camera man while covering students protest at College of Agriculture Bauchi
