Bauchi State to host this year’s National Literacy Day celebration.

Bauchi State Government says it will host the thirty six states of the federation and the FCT for this year’s International Literacy Day in September.
The Executive Secretary State Agency for Mass Education BASAME Malam Nasiru Hammah stated this at a meeting with non formal education stakeholders from Bauchi South Senatorial zone.
Malam Nasiru Hammah said this followed approval by Governor Bala Muhammad in considering the achievements recorded by the agency in the preceding year.
He said the meeting was aimed at putting modalities in place for this year’s enrolment exercise for different categories of learners into its literacy and women centres across the state.
In a remark, the Chairman Bauchi local government Alhaji Mahmud Baba Ma’aji represented by the council’s Secretary Malam Sani Mahmoud charged all staff of the agency to brace up to the challenges and work towards the development of non formal education in the state.
Mahmud Baba Ma’aji who expressed delight with the step taken, promised to support the agency in rhe areas of public enlightenment and infrastructure development.
Also Speaking the Director Mass Education BASAME Malam Zuhairu Usman said the agency enrolled about fifty five thousand learners across eight hundred and ninety two learning centres.
Malam Zuhairu Usman who expressed optimism that this years enrolment figure will exceed that of last year, noted that all the achievements are not without challenges.
This year’s meeting which drew major stakeholders in the non formal education sub sector was held across the three Senatorial districts of the state.
