The Director General National Institution of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Professor Ayo Omotayo says Borno State will benefit from the study tour presently undertook by the Participants in the State.
Professor Ayo Omotayo stated this while briefing newsmen after an interactive session on strengthening local governance through Military and other Security agencies at the headquarters 7 Division Garrison Command Maiduguri.
The Director General NIPPS explained that through robust interactions of the Participants with the local, critical stakeholders and strategic institutions, Borno could be able to realize its own potentials and set developmental agenda.
He stressed that the choice of Borno State for the Study tour was necessitated due to the Strategic location its occupies by sharing borders with three Countries as well as its consolidation process after recovery stage from Insurgency.
The 7 Division Garrison Commander, Brigadier General Abubakar Garba Lawal Haruna had while briefing the Participants of Course 44, NIPPS 2022 highlighted operational activities conducted by the Theatre Command Over the period of seven years that culminated in the defeat and liberation of areas hitherto under the control of the Insurgents .
The Garrison Commander added that their operations have also succeeded in restoration civil authority there by strengthening local governance which is the theme of this year’s course of the NIPSS.
Also at the session, Nigeria Air Force, Nigeria Police, Civil Defence and DSS have contributed and exhibited on how their operations aided and strengthened local governance.
The theme for this year’s Senior Executive Course 44 of National Institution of Policy and Strategic 2022, “Strengthening local governance in Nigeria: Challenges, Options and Opportunities”.
