BOSG vows to address youth restiveness.
Borno state government says it has come up with several programmes and initiatives to contain youth restiveness in the state.
Commissioner for Sports and Youth Empowerment Honourable Sayina Buba stated this at a media briefing in Maiduguri.
Honourable Buba maintained that the recent pronouncement by Governor Babagana Zulum restating the ban on thuggery was done for the betterment of the state.
He explained the ministry in collaboration with security agencies will enforce the directive, noting that government would not condone criminal activities that would undermine the relative peace being enjoyed in Borno.
“Of all the northern states, you will not see a state with high rate of youth restiveness like Borno. They are our children, they are our brothers, the Governor has good plan for them in mind and we are trying to reorganise them in such a way that when we go down they will succeed us, Honourable Buba said”.
The Commissioner remarked that in the last two years, the administration of Professor Babagana Zulum has expended over two billion naira in empowering different groups of youths to be self reliant.
He however expressed dismay that some groups have not properly utilised the intervention and of recent started to constitute nuisance in the society.
Honourable.Sayina Buba added that government is willing to enrol more youths into skill acquisition and entrepreneurship centres built by the state government.
