CISLAC Advocate Entrepreneurship skills to Almajiris.

Bauchi state government has been urged to reposition Tsangaya schools towards provision of Entrepreneurship skills to Almajiris to enables them become self reliant after graduation

This is part of the recommendation during a multi stakeholders meeting that discussed challenges and solutions to Almajiris system of education in Bauchi state

Presenting a paper on the role of government in advancing the right of Almajiris in Bauchi state,Deputy Dean Islamic Studies AD Rufai College of Education and Legal Studies Misau Dr Muhammad Mujtafa said empowering the Almajiris would address the issues of begging and concentrate on their education pursue

Dr Muhammad Mujtafa emphasis that the plight of Almajiris need to be taken serious with utmost sincerity of purpose to guard them against engaging in social vices

He appealed to Almajiris and their teachers to adopt Quranic science for the integration of Almajiri system of education with formal education to achieve the desired goals

On his part Chairman National Tsangaya education development Association Bauchi state chapter Alaramma Zakariya Yusuf Dauduwo mentioned some of their challenges to include lack of shelter,toilet,food,clothes as well as teaching and learning materials

Alaramma Dauduwo noted that time has come for Teachers and Almajiris to accept integration of Almajiri system with formal education

Earlier the convener of the meeting executive director Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Center Auwal Rafsanjani explained that the essence of the meeting was to profer solutions for government to address challenges been faced by the Almajiri system of education

Auwal Rafsanjani who was represented by the program officer CISLAC Murtala Muhammad said the need to provide conducive atmosphere for learning to the Almajiri can not be over emphasize hence the need for all stakeholders to be on the same page

Participants of the meeting were drawn from all strata of the society with support from Mack Arthur foundation
