Declaring the competition open,the Cheif of Army staff Lieutenant General Faruq Yahaya said the competition is in line with his vision to have military combatants who are ready to depend the nations Territorial integrity
Lieutenant General Faruq Yahaya who was represented by the commandant Nigeria Army Armour corps Major General Suleman Idris said the competition would avail the troops the necessary skills to overcome challenges in various operations.
He said new apparatus have been introduced to bring out the soldiering skills of the participants and as well as build physical endurance and team work
“Shortly on assumption of office I roll out my vision which is to have a professional Nigeria Army to accomplish Assigned mission within a joint Environment in the defence of Nigeria which is to be achieved by standing on the cardinal pillers of professionalism readiness,sound administration and cooperation.
The Chief of Army staff explain that the experience in the various theatres of operation has deepened the need for the troops to surmount natural and man-made obstacles
General Yahaya said seven Army Formations are participating in the competition to include 1 Division Nigeria Army Kaduna 2 Division Ibadan, 3 Division Jos 6 Division Portharcourt,81 Division Lagos 82 Division Enugu and Army Headquarters Garrison Abuja
The Chief of Army Staff who reiterated that the Nigeria Army would continue to provide required training to its personnel to attain high level of proficiency,assured that the competition will enhance physical and mental endurance of the participants
In a remark the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigeria Army Jos Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali further underscore the importance of the competition in the areas of improved standard,battle readiness and physical fitness among officers and Men to strengthen professionalism
Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali said the Army would Continue to train officers and Men in the fight against terrorism and other internal security challenges
The 2021 Inter Formations competition involved the crossing of various obstacles to include ditches walls and ropes under heavy gun fire,explosion and smoke grenades to stimulate combat environment.
