Covid-19: BAUCHI GOVERNOR ADVOCATES MASSIVE PROCUREMENT OF VACCINE.

Governor Bala Muhammad of Bauchi State has called on the Federal Government to procure the required doses of covid-19 vaccines to meet the growing Demands in the country.


He made the call at the flagging off of the covid-19 vaccination exercise in Government House Bauchi.

Bala Muhammad said Nigeria is rich enough to purchase the vaccine for the benefit of it citizens as against depending on donor Agencies and Development Partners.


The Governor pointed out that although there is growing demand of the vaccine across the world, the first  phase of about four million doses received by Nigeria indicated that a concerted effort need to be made to provide meet the need of over two hundred million population.


Bala Muhammad called on traditional and religious leaders to sensitize their subjects on the importance of the vaccine, noting that World Health Organization WHO, European Medicine Agency and NAFDAC have certified that it is safe and effective.
He assured to provide leadership and resources that would guarantee the well-being of people.

In their separate remarks, the state coordinator of WHO Dr. Adamu Ibrahim Ningi and the Executive Chairman Bauchi state Primary Healthcare Development Agency Dr. Rilwanu Muhammad explained that the AstraZeneca Vaccine is to be administed in two doses by individual and it has no negative effects
High Point of the event was the symbolic administration of the vaccine to the State Governor, his Wife and Deputy, Representative of World Health Organization, Traditional and Religious leaders as well as the Frontline journalists and Medical workers.
