Fifty million Nigerians are targeted to be vaccinated against Covid-19 before February next year.

The Executive Secretary of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA Dr. Faisal Shu’aibu stated this at the flag off of the third phase of Covid-19 vaccination in Bauchi.

Dr. Shu’aibu who was represented by the NPHCDA Head of Communication, Mohammed Abubakar, said so far six million eligible Nigerians have been vaccinated for the first and second doses.

He said the Federal Government had procured a substantial number of the vaccine for use across the six geo-political zones of the country, calling on the people to present themselves and take it.

While flagging off the exercise at his palace, the Emir of Bauchi Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu has reiterated commitment to better the healthcare of his subjects.

The Executive Chairman of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency Dr Rilwanu Mohammed said the essence of the flag-off was in adherence to the NPHCDA’s mandate given to the thirty six states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja.

Dr. Mohammed expressed worry that six more unvaccinated people died of the disease in the state, hence the resolve to do the needful to curb the problem.

Also speaking, the Chairman Bauchi Local Government Area, Alhaji Mahmood Babamaji assured of his continued support to the National and State Primary Health Care Development Agencies to achieve the desired objective.
