Elephants Destroy Farm Lands Worth Millions of Naira

Casava farmers in Shafan Duguri Area of Alkaleri local government Bauchi state have called on the state government to come to their aid against herds of elephant from Yankari Game Reserve from incessant destruction of their farms.

The Village Head of Bandibir Shafan Duguri Alhaji Yusuf Idris made the appeal during an exclusive phone interview with our reporter

Alhaji Yusuf Idris explain that the herds of the Elephant in their numbers have destroyed more than five farm lands with an estimated loss of more than five million Naira worth of farm produce.

He said the herds of the Elephant last year also destroyed more than thirty farm lands produce worth millions of Naira in the area and urged the state government to come to their aid and bring succour to the affected farmers.

The Village Head emphases that all local measures taken to stop the Elephants from the destruction of the farm produce prove abortive.

Also speaking one of the affected farmers, Nuruddeen Nuhu Shafan Duguri said the Elephants have destroyed his farm produce with estimated cost of more than one hundred bags of cassava worth more than one million Naira.
