Establish University Of Agriculture To Boost Economy – KNHA Calls.

Kano State House of Assembly has called on the state government to establish university of Agriculture at Ghari in Kunchi local government area of the state with a view to boost food production and enhance socioeconomic status of the area.
This was sequel to a motion presented by member representing Kunchi/Tsanyawa constituency, Alhaji Garba Ya’u Gwarmai during plenary session presided over by the speaker Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari.
Mover of the motion argued that, establishment of the university would go a long way in boosting modern agricultural production and food sufficiency in the state and the country in general.
Alhaji Garba Ya’u noted that, a survey conducted reveals Kunchi LGA is blessed with fertile land that if harnessed properly can serve as a training ground for young graduates, improve security and provide employment to the teeming populace.
He Maintained that, agriculture is one of the catalysts to the development of the nation and stressed the need for government to intensify effort towards mapping out policies and programmes aimed at uplifting the standard of Agriculture in the country.
The lawmaker, said the establishment of the university is in line with the federal and state governments’ cardinal objectives of ensuring food security and curtailing the menace of insecurity in the nation.
Contributing, members representing Gabasawa, Kiru, Bagwai and Shannon, Kabiru Hassan Dashi, Ali Isah and Salisu Dan Azumi Muhammad, explained that the motion would boost the economy, improve food production, clothing, medicine and self reliance through entrepreneurship skills.
In another development, the house had congratulated member representing Rogo local government area, Pharmacist Magaji Dahiru Zarewa, over the confirment of fellowship award by Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).
The lawmakers described, the award as apt in view of the immense contributions of the member to the PCN and urged others to emulate.
