Members of the Bauchi State House of Assembly have been advised to be humble in their conduct and learn the basic and indepth rudiments of legislative business for effective representation of their people.

An expert on legislative matters, Dr Shu’aibu Danwanka gave the advice at a two-day orientation workshop, organised by the USAID funded State Accountability, Transparency and Effectiveness (State2State) Activity in collaboration with the State House of Assembly.

He said being humble was one of the key attributes to success and anything outside of it would not yield the right results.

Dr Danwanka who is one of the key resource persons at the orientation, presented three papers that centred on the constitutional requirements for members of the assembly to diligently and effectively deliver their duties and responsibilities as legislators.

The expert advised the new members not to concentrate heavily on financial benefits, rather they should first prioritise learning the legislative business as it was the primary thing that takes them to the chamber.

Dr Shu’aibu Danwanka who is also a consultant with the Bauchi State House of Assembly argued that unless the new members learn the legislative process and procedure, they would spend the whole four years in the chamber without impacting the lives of their constituents.
