Federal Government Set to Restore The Past Glory In Federal Unity Colleges

The Minister of State for Education, Dr Chukwumeka Nwajiuba says the Federal government is determined to bring back quality and standard to Federal Unity Colleges across the country, with a view to restore it’s past glory through adequate funding, strict supervision and evaluation of the entire system.
The Minister stated this at the 2021, Annual General Meeting, AGM, of principals of the Federal Unity Colleges, held in Gombe.
Dr. Chukwumeka Nwajiuba explained that, the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration, has placed a high premium on education, providing modern facilities to accommodate the ever increasing population of students across the nation.
The Minister noted that, the Federal Unity Colleges were purposely established all over the states in Nigeria to Foster national cohesion and unity among the Nigerian children of school age from different cultural background to serve as centres of academic excellence.
According to him, to maintain these centres, there is a need to have visionary leaders, good mentors and proactive principals who are ready to give the Nigerian child a positive leadership direction.
Speaking at the occasion, Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, expressed satisfaction towards the efforts of the Federal Ministry of Education for it’s consistent desire to create a conducive atmosphere for a successful teaching and learning platform in the country.
The Governor who was represented by the Deputy Governor Manasah Daniel Jatau, has charged all the participants, particularly the Principals to use the forum to create a consciousness in the children and youths to strive at all costs to be better citizens and by extension build a better nation.
Earlier, the Chairperson of Principals of Federal Unity Colleges, Mrs.
Oyinloye Yakubu, described the Annual General Meeting, AGM, as an avenue for the Principals of one hundred and ten Federal Unity Colleges in the country to come together and interact by sharing ideas with one another on the experience that would help them to improve on their schools activities.
She also revealed that, the theme of this year’s AGM, is The Role of Education in Eradicating Social Vices and Safeguarding Schools in this Era of Insecurity.
She equally noted that, the AGM, would provide an access to a lot of information that would help the association to make positive impact on the performance of their job.
