Federal Polytechnic Bauchi dismisses Lecturers for alleged Rape.

The Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has ratified the dismissal of two lecturers for alleged rape of some female students.

Similarly, the Council also approved the decision of the academic board to dismiss thirty students for various offenses.

Correspondent Abubakar Baba Ahmad reports that the decisions which were reached at the instance of the Chairman governing council Barrister Isaac Abbot Ogbobula and other members, the dismissal and rustication of both the staff and the students are with immediate effect.

The Rector of the Polytechnic Architect Sanusi Waziri Gumau who disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the council’s meeting in Bauchi said the decision findings and recommendations of a committee constituted by the institution to look into the allegations of rape and sexual harassment by the staff.

Architect Sunusi Gumau said the issue of alleged rape came to the attention of the institution on the twenty first of August this year, leading to the setting up of a committee on the matter.

He disclosed that the accused Musa Baba Abubakar of General Studies department and Adebusoye Michael Sunday of Nutrition and dietetics were investigated and found guilty of the allegations levelled against them based on the laws of the institution.

On students rustication, the Rector said 16 of them were found to have presented fake results to gain admission into the school while the remaining 14 were withdrawn due to examination misconducts.

Gumau who used the medium to express displeasure over the way the issue was handled by the media,called for stronger synergy and respect for the laws of the Polytechnic to ensure amicable resolution of all matters.

He expressed gratitude to Bauchi Emirate council, security agencies in the state and other stakeholders for their efforts towards the security and development of the institution.
