FG Advocates Inclusion of Emergency Service in States’ Health system.

The Minister of Health Dr. Osagie Ehanire has advocated the inclusion of Emergency Service delivery in the healthcare system of the thirty six states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja.

He gave the indication while responding to issues raised at a Technical Session during the just concluded First Bauchi State Health Summit, with the theme Optimising Health Care System in in Bauchi State.

Dr. Ehanire said his ministry would soon launch the developed work plan which contains specific guidelines that is geared towards actualizing the services.

He explained that there would also be Public Private Partnership, where well equipped ambulances would be made available with a three digit number for citizens having health emergencies to dial for prompt intervention.

On the ministry’s response to Covid-19 pandemic, the Minister said there was a well articulated framework at the federal level which was also adopted by some states and yielded the country fruitful results.

Earlier, in his response, the State Governor Bala Mohammed who decried that the healthcare system of the state was in shambles due to the inaction of past administrations argued that there must be prudent management of resources and accurate utilization of the existing healthcare staff to ensure effective and efficient healthcare service delivery.

Governor Mohammed assured that his administration has a plan to employ additional healthcare professionals, ranging from medical doctors, nurses and midwives that would be deployed to the health facilities in need to bridge the existing gaps being experienced in the state.
