FG committed towards successful implementation of Home-Grown school feeding program – Minister.

The federal government has reiterated its Commitment to Ensuring the successful implementation of the National Home Grown School feeding program all over the federation.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Hajiya Saadiya Umar Faruk Stated this during the Flagg off of the National Home -Grown School feeding Enumeration Exercises held at Gurun Gawa primary School , kumbotso local Government Area of Kano state.

Hajiya Saadiya Umar Faruk Represented by Hashim Abubakar said  the National Home Grown Feeding is funded by the Federal Government, implemented by the State Governments.

She said the responsibility of managing the day-to-day activities of the program was channeled to the State Government, especially appointing actors from program officers to cooks.

The Minister explained that As part of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian And Disaster Management Social Developments ’s efforts to strengthen and institutionalize the program it has  embarked on an enumeration exercise with a view to verify the existing data of the benefitting pupils on the program as provided by each  benefiting state.

She noted that the aim of the exercise was to  update the database with accurate data and ultimately scale up the program to reach more beneficiaries across the Nation.

” I’m appealing to school headteachers to expedite action in ensuring that all pupils from primary 1 to Primary 3 are being captured in the Enumeration, geared towards making a reliable Data, for the Successful Implementation”.

“We have therefore devised this  as a multi sectoral intervention with partners such as the the State NSIP  officers, NOa, NBs, npopc , nysc , ubec and state UBEs”.

” we are here  from the FMHADMSD to monitor the activities for this enumeration exercise based on the data received.

Going forward, the Honourable Minister is committed to ensuring the  Enumeration of beneficiaries on the NHGSFP as  a yearly activity due to the fact that the number  for pupils is fluid, with new enrollments happening every new session.  We intend to maintain an accurate database that will serve us better in our planning , and improve the transparency of the program.”

Hajiya Sadiya Umar Faruk called on parents, school headmasters, cooks , traditional and community leaders to support federal government efforts in the ongoing exercise for the benefit of the pupils who are eligible for these free meals.

In a remark the state program manager in Kano Alhaji Abdullahi Ya’u ‘Yan Shana Aplauded federal governments effort for introducing the program.

He said Kano state government would Accord all the necessary support and cooperation to the program, to ensure that the set objectives were Achieved.
