FG Launches N20,000 Grant to Rural Women in Bauchi.

One hundred and fifty thousand poor rural women across the thirty six states of the country and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, are to benefit from the Federal Government’s twenty thousand naira grant aimed at improving their economic status.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Farouq made this known while launching the disbursement of twenty thousand Naira grant to rural women in Katagum local government area of Bauchi state.

Represented by the Ministry’s Director Humanitarian, Dr. Sulaiman Abubakar, Hajiya Sadiya Farouq said each of the one hundred and fifty thousand rural women, would get twenty thousand naira as grant, aimed at increasing their access to financial capital required for economic activities.

According to the minister, the Grant for Rural Women Programme, was introduced this year as part of the President Buhari’s inclusion and poverty reduction agenda, aimed at actualizing the administration’s policy of lifting one hundred million Nigerians out of poverty by the year 2030 and urged the beneficiaries to judiciously utilize the grant to enhance their economic status.

She said 54,734 poor and vulnerable households in sixteen local government areas in Bauchi state have benefitted from the federal government’s N5,000 Conditional Cash Transfer, CCT with a view to set them out of poverty.

The Emir of Katagum Alhaji Farouq Umar, the 2nd, represented by the Makaman Katagum, Alhaji Aliyu Hussaini urged the beneficiaries not to abuse the opportunity provided them and commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for the introduction of numerous programmes aimed at addressing poverty in the country.

Some of the beneficiaries interviewed, expressed gratitude to the Minister and pledged to use the grant wisely.
