About four hundred and fifty temporary shelters have been razed by fire at the Government Girls Secondary School IDP camp in Mafa local government of Borno state.
The fire also destroyed foodstuffs and other valuable items worth millions of naira.
In a statement by the information unit of the local government says no life was lost or injury sustain as a result of the inferno.
Chairman of the camp Ahmodu Abatcha, while briefing the Council Chairman Abatcha Kawu says the fire broke out at 3:40 in the afternoon and the community immediately mobilize security agents who successfully put out the fire.
The statement adds that the Chairman Abatcha Kawu sympathize with the victims and urge them to consider what happen as a trail from God.
He assured of the Council assistance and promised to report the incident to higher authority for immediate intervention.
Member representing the area at the state assembly, Honourable Baba Ali Modu express shock and deep sadness over the incident.
He also express dismay on incessant fire outbreak in IDP camps, urging Camp management to set up a committee that would sensitize people on the proper ways of handling fire.
