GEEP Officially Rolled- Out in Gombe State.

The Government Enterprises and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) has been officially rolled-out in Gombe state.

The program was performed by the Representative of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Investment, Dr. Nasiru Sani Gwarzo, in the company of the Gombe State Deputy Governor, Manassah Daniel Jatau, Ph.D., who represented Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, at the New Banquet Hall, Government House, Gombe State.

In his address, the Deputy Governor commended President Muhammadu Buh and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs for the interventions aimed at addressing the numerous challenges bedeviling the nation.

The deputy governor said Gombe State on its own, had tried its best in improving the welfare and well-being of its citizenry within the limited resources available, through partnership with numerous organizations in ensuring the improvement of living standards.

He commended the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, for standing in the gap to ensure victims of disasters like cholera, flood, and poor vulnerable people are cared for.

The deputy governor called on residents of the state to learn and acquire skills that will generate self-employment to have better living standards.

In his address, the Permanent Secretary of y, of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Investment, Dr. Nasiru Sani Gwarzo who represented the Minister, explained that the program under National Social Investment Program (NSIP) has witnessed life-changing experiences people, who lived below the poverty line and those that are vulnerable to disasters, now living better lives.

Dr Nasiru Sani Gwarzo said, In a bid to bring more beneficiation boarded the GEEP program, the Ministry will soon commence the second phase of GEEP registration of which an official date will be communicated.

He said The second phase of GEEP is expected to capture more vulnerable groups to lift them out of abject poverty and reduce unemployment in society.

According to him, With the complementary efforts of the state government and other stakeholders in creating awareness, the target beneficiaries and many more citizens of the State will be on their way out of poverty to prosperity and the ministry will remain on the track of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty by 2030.

Earlier, in his address of welcome, the Gombe State Focal Person and Special Adviser to the Governor on Social Investment Hon. Habu Shinga said the program was aimed t rolling out the GEEP program in the state and the distribution of checks to beneficiaries.

He said Gombe State Government has partnered with the Federal Government by keying into the program, calling on beneficiaries to make judicious use of the loans.

Some of the e beneficiaries, Veraline Ishaku, Fatima Garba, and Abba Chairman appreciated the gesture and promised to utilize the loans for the purpose they were meant.

In his Vote of thanks, the Gombe State Programme Manager, GEEP, Annas Bappayo appreciated the dignitaries and all those who contributed to the success of the program, assuring them of judicious use of the loans.

The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of checks to beneficiaries, an inspection of exhibitions, and cultural entertainment by the Gombe Cultural Troupe among others.
