Gender Equity: Stakeholders call for more Male Participation and Sensitisation in Bauchi.

Stakeholders working on Women, Peace and Security WPS project have called for greater participation of Men on issues of Gender and Conflict Sensitivity to ensure equity in the society.
One of them and North East Program Coordinator International Alert Mary Hwyere made the call during a presentation on Gender Sensitivity at a two day workshop for male leaders in Bauchi.
Mary Hwyere said gender which is socially determined is influenced by perceptions and expectations arising from class, ethnicity, religion as well as political and economic factors hence the need for them to get involved towards adequate Sensitisation.
She reminded the participants on the need to work towards Gender Equity and Social Inclusion to ensure balance and justice irrespective of social status.
In another presentation on Conflict Sensitivity Bashir Umar Aliyu from International Alert Abuja said in conflict situations, the participants must analyse all the factors and stages of the conflict to ensure positive peace is achieved either through de-escalation or amicable resolution.
Also Speaking, Manager International Alert Bauchi Jennifer Dashe disclosed that alot has been achieved under the WPS project in the state to include women inclusion in Peace and Security committee, formulation of local government action plans among others.
Over twenty participants to include traditional and religious leaders, youth organisations, CSOs, NGOs and the media among others.
