Ghost Workers: Bauchi State Govt. Saves 500 Million Naira, to lift employment embargo.

The Committee set up to find a lasting solution to the salary payment in Bauchi State Public Service has identified over five thousand illegal employees in the state and local government service which led to the monthly savings of over five hundred and eleven million naira.
To this end, the committee advised the state government to implement all the verified ministerial observations especially salary stoppages and cleared disciplinary cases as well as restoration of genuine employees.
The Chairman of the committee who is the state Deputy Governor, Senator Baba Tela gave the indication while presenting the committee’s report to Governor Bala Mohammed in Government House Bauchi.
Senator Baba Tela said in the course of it assignment, the committee met with all those directly involved in salary administration in the seventy six Ministries, Departments and Agencies as well as local government councils.
Lamenting the prevalence of irregularities in the payroll, the thirty seven member committee recommended severe disciplinary action against violators of the new salary reforms in both the state and local government service.
Responding the state Governor Bala Mohammed who appreciated the committee for justifying the confidence reposed in them noted that perpetrators of the disturbing irregularities would not go unpunished.
According to Governor Bala Mohammed, government would utilize the savings made by the committee in employing new civil servants to fill the vacant of the removed ghost workers.
The Governor added that a Committee would be constituted to ensure effective Implementation of all the recommendations.
Also commenting, the State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress NLC comrade Danjuma Saleh said workers would always cooperate with government on it quest to removing bad elements in public service.
