Gombe Athletes to represent the state in 5 games at the 7th National Youth Games, Asaba

President Bola Tinubu has urged state Governors to be committed and encourage youths in annual Games.
The President who was represented by the Minster of Sports Mr John Owah Enuh, made the call at the 7th annual youth games in Asaba, Delta State.
In his address the President said the future of Nigerian sports will be on the National Youths Games, he therefore called on state governors to encourage youths to participate in such competitions, being entrepreneurial and a vocational skill in the World.
He added that a lot of Developments were made such as the introduction of a National Identification Number to sanitize the games.
The Chief Host, the Governor of Delta state, Elder Sheriff F. O. Oborevwon, said he is positive that Sports had the power to create hope and trust among youths in Nigeria.
On the other hand, The Chairman, of the Gombe State Athletics Association, Hon. Ahmed Shuibu Gara Who is the sole sponsor of the entire Team of Gombe State and its Officials said he ensured the participation of well-trained Athletics in Asaba, even though Gombe State has been under-represented in some categories of the Games.
Ahmed Gara explained that the Gombe Athletics Academy, Qualified for the physical screening, Challenging their counterparts who were sponsored by their Various state governments, in only five competitions which included Relay, Sprinting, Long jump, Mixed Relay, and Middle distance 800, meters.
However, the Technical Director who is the Head of Gombe Athletics Academy, Prince Simon Ayuba, said he is Optimistic that the Athletes would be Good Ambassadors of Gombe and promised Silver Wears.
The open ceremony
began with decorum as the Gombe Athletics Academy Show Case talents to represent the State, the youths Games, is expected to last for seven days with all states of the federation participating including the FCT, only Zamfara state absconded.
