Gombe state government have been urged for speedy passage of VAPP bill in the state.

Gombe state government have been called to revisit the Violence Against Persons Prohibition bill, VAPP, for it’s speedy passage.
The Coordinator VAPP alliance, Gombe State Chapter, Mrs Dudu Manuga, made the call while speaking to Radio Nigeria Jewel FM on the 16 days activism against gender based violence, with the theme “ORANGE THE WORLD”: END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN NOW
Mrs Dudu Manuga said Gombe state is experiencing an alarming rise of cases of violence especially Rape cases hence the need for the speedy passage of the bill for stiffer penalties to be meted on the perpetrators which will help curb the menace in the society..
Mrs Manuga said the VAPP bill has been in the Gombe State House of Assembly for over a year without being passed thereby making it difficult to prosecute the perpetrators of the evil act.
According to the Coordinator, for the month of August 2021, there have been Eighty reported cases of Rape, in the state, which most of the victims are minors, living the victims and their families traumatized.
She therefore called on the executive arm of government to liase with the State legislature and ensure the speedy passage of the bill
Mrs Manuga also called on parents and Guardians to pay more attention on their children and wards by controling what the children watch as movies and not to cover up for perpetrators, to save others from their evil acts.
Mrs Dudu Manuga therefore called on all citizens particularly residents of Gombe state to speak out against violence and support the fight against Rape in the state.
