GOMBE STATE GOVERNMENT TO BOOST WATER SUPPLY WITHIN GOMBE AND ITS ENVIRONS.

Gombe state government has reassured the people of the state of adequate water supply as soon as the water supply, rehabilitation and expansion project is completed.

The state commissioner for Water Resources, Mijinyawa Yahya made this known during an oversight function with the State House of Assembly committee on water resources to the project’s sites.

The commissioner explained that the Gombe state government is committed to providing clean and portable drinking water for the people of the state, noting that its the reason why they found a competent contractor who is famous in such projects.

The commissioner assured that the state government will continue to monitor the project to ensure the contractor carries out a good job that will stand the taste of time.

Speaking at the event the Chairman of the House committee on water resources, who double as a member representing Kaltungo West, Yarima Ladan Gaule who led the members of the committee on an oversight function, said they were very satisfied with the level of progress achieved on the project, urging the contractor to do more to ensure total Completion within the stipulated time.

The project sites visited by the house committee include the Tumfure booster station, special development zone booster station and NTA booster station which are expected to supply potable water to all nooks and crannies of the state capital.

The project aims to provide additional 11 million litres of water to the existing supply capacity of the scheme and pipe laying of more than 160 km within the Gombe metropolis and neighbouring communities.

It could be recalled that on the 11th of May this year, the state Governor Alh. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahya during the State Executive Council meeting, made available the sum of over 11 billion naira for the rehabilitation and expansion of the water supply in Gombe with a completion period of 24 months.
