Gov. Mai Mala Buni signed the N163.9 billion 2022 Appropriation and Finance Bill into Law.

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has signed into law the 2022 Appropriation and Finance Bills passed by the state assembly. Speaking at the occasion in Damaturu, Governor Buni noted that the House slashed the total sum of the budget from over N164 billion to N163.9 billion.

He explained that with the adjustment, the capital expenditure was now N90.3 billion, while the recurrent expenditure stood at N73.7 billion.

The Yobe state governor said the budget tagged : “Budget of continuity empowerment and accelerated development” would focus on completing old projects, creating employment, infrastructure development and revitalisation of agriculture and education.
While appreciating the House of Assembly for the timely passage of the budget, he
also commended them for codification of Yobe State Revenue Laws, which paved way for the establishment of a single account for effective revenue generation.

“ Yobe is rated as second best state in capital budget expenditure, which promotes service delivery in education, healthcare, trade, commerce, road construction, housing, among others.

In his remarks, the Speaker of House, Alhaji Lawan Mirwa, commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for prudent management of resources and his administration’s adherence to due process in award of contracts and their execution.

He pledged the House’s total support and co-operation to education revitalisation programme recently initiated by the state government.
